My Strawberry Lane
June 25th, 2008 Wow

What do you do when it is sooo far beyond over? I’m not talking romantic relationships here, but just the proximity of knowing one another. My God, I am so frustrated. I for one am happy. Am I happy because I have everything I want, because I’ve achieved all my goals, because I am all I have ever wanted to become…. no. I am happy because I have come to be at peace with my mission, my purposes, my passion… I have not settled I have not given and inch… I have dreamed and worked and toiled and I have built a life.

If not that then what? If that’s not it, if that doesn’t sum up the meaning of life then what does. What is life if not a mission?

I am tired of people telling me how it is. YOU don’t know.

I know this may seem strange as it is my first post in a long long time.

I can not really elaborate on the  situation more than to say that I have shut the door on a person from my past who I have held on to, held up on a pedestal in a way to be more than just a superficial human being. This person is not family or my husband..this person was a distant friend at best.

The point is this - be positive. Leave a little more energy than you take. do the world a favor….

September 25th, 2007 Exhaustion and Bliss

Can I just say - my new job is incredible.  I never thought a “job” could be this awesome.

My coworkers are great - my bosses are great, I’m learning so much! I am so incredibly glad that I picked the field I did.

Design rocks!

I enjoy going to work, if you can believe that!

No pics yet - I don’t want to bring my big massive Canon in there and draw attention to my dork ass picture taking. I will be purchasing a nice pocket digital to keep in my purse and what not for occasions that don’t necessarily call for Mr. Uber Cam.

I am also in the process of building a blog for my writings. Yes, once upon a time I wrote - a lot. I am building it from scratch whilst learning all these new PHP skillz so it may be a while.

I don’t know how much I’ll blog here… Maybe a lot, maybe not at all who knows. Not much knitting going on… ooo knitting… I should go knit… good idea!

September 18th, 2007 So I never got to go to Art School

So I never got to go to Art School.  Now I’m glad. The plan was to get my Associate’s degree and then go on to Atlanta and spend oodles of money on Art School.

Well, we all know where this is going.  Mr. Gamerman came along and swept me off my feet and shortly thereafter knocked me up.

I don’t regret one bit of it. I stayed home with my babykid and got to bond with her and get to know her and have all these moments.

Well babygirl is growing up. She started preeschool in May and she loves it. She wants to go everyday. She doesn’t need me 24/7 anymore.

So, I decided to get on with that career I’ve been wanting.

Well, today I went on my first interview. It’s a sweet design firm downtown.  They are so awesome there. I talked with them less like an interview and more like friends.  The environment is really cool and they hired me right there! Sweet! They complemented my design and  my code and made me feel so awesome.

I start just as soon as I can and babygirl will get to go to school everyday. She’s going to love that.

I will be doing web design html/css with the oportunity of moving into more of a development feild later down the road.

The girl I interviewed with is even a knitter! She looked right at me and said that with all the digital “stuff” out there that she likes to knit and sew because it’s something tangible. I almost died right there. I said the same thing to the writer for the Tennessean when I did the interview for The Revolution of Craft.

If that’s not awesome I don’t know what is.

We haven’t settled on pay yet buth their range of pay is exactly in line with what I want to make. I am so way beyond excited. I finally did it, I finally am going to get to collaborate with other designers and work in this really awesome environment… and have a career. My family is ready for it, babygirl is ready for it. It’s time!

Hard work really does pay off!

September 7th, 2007 One of my favorite authors dies…

Author Madeleine L’Engle, whose novel “A Wrinkle in Time” has captivated generations of schoolchildren and adults since the 1960s, has died, her publicist said Friday. She was 88. L’Engle died Thursday at a nursing home in Litchfield, said Jennifer Doerr, publicity manager for publisher Farrar, Straus and Giroux.

A Wrinkle in Time was one of those books that really spoke to me. Madeleine - you were and will always be awesome.

Also -

I do plan to start blogging again soon.

I don’t think anyone even reads this any more. But, as you’ve noticed by the lack of pics from even my previous psts, I’ve had some things going on.

Suffice it to say, I’ve had a major falling out with a person I was really close to.  So much of a falling out - that basically I’ve had to cut this person from my life. Completely.

Sometimes life leads you… well away from each other. This person has violated what I consider my “terms” of a healthy friendship. So, the short of it is, all my flickr pics are now private… which means they no longer show up in my posts. It’s sad… but sometimes cutting people off is the only way to demonstrate to them just how far they’ve gone.

I don’t know what the future holds for this blog. I don’t want to change the name… I’ve met so many awesome crafty folks through this blog. But I don’t want my life out there so said person can still be a part of it… even from afar.

So I’m troubled to say the least.

But… I have to say this pertaining to knitting - I’ve been so distracted and busy and working working working… My birthday is coming up and Betty - you’ve got me going crazy over that Retro Redux Shrug!! I see me totally making time for that in my near future!!

July 10th, 2007 nothing much

came across this from Yarn Ball Boogie

“I like to think that I’m maturing a little as a knitter. F—- those balls that I haven’t touched in 10 years. I’M NOT GOING TO USE THEM. So I threw them away. I did. Garbage. Trash. And ya know what? It was so liberating. And I even talked to them a little before we parted ways. Most of it was dirty talk. ”

ha ha! if only I was so brave!

Which brings me back to my house, and the lack of pictures…

We’ve been there for 2 weeks and my craft room still is not finished… sigh… I really want to show it off here on the ‘ol blog and all, but it is in shambles…

The painting is finished and most of my things are put away. A set of drawers was broken in the move and I need new ones, but am broke from all the painting and moving and all. My room could stand some furniture besides my desk such as a futon and maybe some bean bag chairs? You know, like the new ones.

Every time I get things put away the electrician has to come back and pull everything out of my closet and work on stuff/ make a huge mess!

The washer and dryer are in a closet in my room (a gift from my MIL) unfortunately that “little leak” she was talking about how we should watch out for, ended up flooding part of the room…

June 11th, 2007 Workin’ on our House!!

We are HOME OWNERS!! Woo HOO!!!

Keys! We’ve got KEYS!!

We Started working on our house on Saturday, doing some painting.  We need some mild electrical work done and the floors refinished before we can move in… hopefully…. this will all be done by this weekend.  And if we can get back there to paint the last room (my studio room) sometime this week then we’ll be doing good!

We painted our bedroom and Lily’s room so far.  The half bath in our bedroom is going to be a pain. We thought we could put some primer over the wallpaper… but that isn’t working so well. We ended up ripping off some of the wallpaper that was coming loose and now I’m sfraid we’ll have to rip it all off! GRRR

I have to say - there’s nothing like working on your first house! It’s better than knitting!

Speaking of knitting, I did finish the two tone shrug… just haven’t gotten around to taking a pic…

I like the pattern and the yarn I chose, but it came out a little snug… a little too snug. It’s wearable but I’m not sure that I love it.  I’ve heard of a few other people’s who came out like that as well.  I know I know - where’s my freekin swatch - I didn’t do one.  I’m usually right on guage… I know, it was still stupid.  I am considering making another one in solid black as well.  I’m sure it would look great in black but it would take me FOR-EV-ER to knit because I get bored knitting with black.

I’ve noticed that the colors I like to knit with are not necessarily the same as the colors I like to wear…

June 4th, 2007 2 Years Ago Today

I was getting ready to say my I-do’s to my awesome husband!

I was nervous and extremely ready. I actually HATED planning the wedding. It was very stressful and hard. But in the end everything came together fairly well… everything except the photographer. His pictures were terrible and whwn we went to see the proofs he wants $40 for 1 8×10. There is absolutely NO good pictures of my mother and I on my big day either…

My uncle, who is actually quite talented for an amature photographer, took pictures that day and his were better than the photographers! But he didn’t get the good shots because he was trying to stay out of the “real” photographer’s way.

Photos schmotos - our day was fabulous and I’m happy to be married today!

We were supposed to close on our new house - that’s right our NEW F-ING HOUSE!!! - today but all the paperwork didn’t get here in time… how’s that for an anniversary present!

May 31st, 2007 More New Beginings

I realized today that I haven’t really been very productive this year as far as my knitting is concerned.

I still haven’t finished putting the straps on Monica or taken pictures of it…

I sewed that dress… again no pictures yet… and made a jean skirt…. man I’m slacking.

Anyways, I have been doing some serious yarn shopping and in the past couple of days I’ve actually gotten some serious knitting in. I took a whole backpack of yarn overseas with me but was so stressed/tired that I only got a few rows done =(

So I have a good start on the Two-Tone Shrug from Fitted Knits . I LOVE this book! There are so many projects I want to make.  Stefanie Japel changed my life! When I first started knitting I knew nothing about Stitch and Bitch, and cool patterns, and my LYS.  I bought a book from Michaels and taught myself how to knit after my mother had gotten me into crochet. I had no idea there was this whole subculture of knitters out there. I didn’t know about Knitty or the blogs or any of that. In a desperate search to find more interesting patterns I searched the internets.  Glampyre was on of the first sites I found.  I immediately fell in love and found more blogs and friends and my LYS and essentially that moment changed my knitting life! The spark that got the fire going if you will.

So the Shrug is my first pattern from the book and I can’t knit it fast enough! I have more time now, and I’m making more time for knitting! YAY! I missed knitting.

I’m using Dreaming In Color yarn that thanks to Shelia I am ADDICTED TO ! I want more already.

I’m not a big variegated yarn person. More like a nearly solid variegated. I love love love this yarn!!

Look at it up close….

Love it love it love it!

May 31st, 2007 Lily’s First Day of Preschool

Do you think she was excited?

Really Excited!” />

May 26th, 2007 We’re back!

From our whirlwind vacation to France, Monaco, and Italy!Wow!

I have to say, if I were to go back, I would stay in Eze Village over Monaco any day. Eze is this old village built on a cliff with a cactus garden at the top where the castle used to be. All along the way there are shops with artists wares and what nots. This was by far the highlight of my trip.

Here I am in the cactus garden. I purchased and amber and silver ring, made by a local artist along with earrings and a watercolor print of a door in Eze Village.

More to come later… we’re still settling back in!
